My new spiral bible and devotional đź©·
Over the years, I have seriously attempted to read the entire Bible twice (or three times?). I’ve followed a different reading plan for each of those times, and each separate plan had me jumping around the Bible to different chapters for each day. It felt chaotic, and it was unrealistic for me to keep up for an entire year. So each year I attempted, I ended up stopping at the end of March — both times!
Recently, I discovered “Spiral Bible.” (No ad/promotion here, just a big fan). I came across it as I was searching the web for a new devotional or reading plan as I dive back into the Bible and my time with God.
The website immediately drew me in, and the product in particular that caught my eye was “The Bible in a Year: a 52 week journey through God’s Word.”
As I looked thru the images online, somehow it just “felt” right. I loved how the weeks/days were divided, and what l loved the most was that it was undated — meaning, I can spend multiple days on “one” day if I so pleased! However… I think the best part about it all is that the books are spiraled, which means… bringing it to a coffee shop (or park) and taking notes in it just became a whole lot easier! When you hold one of these bad boys in your hands, you aren’t worried about ruining those paper thin pages that you normally find in a typical bible.
I ended up purchasing both the devotional, and the whole bible set: NLT version.
As I explored the pages of the devotional, I noted that there are different themes or “focuses” for each week, and each day during that week will hone in on only one story/writer of the Bible— and the reading for each day correlates to the central theme of that week. Ok—now I’m kind of obsessed!
As I recommit my relationship to God and aim for that closeness once again, I will be blogging after each time I complete a full week in the devotional. This is not only to hope to inspire even one person to talk to God, but also to organize my own thoughts as I dive deeper into His word.
I’m really excited for this, and can’t wait to see how my relationship with God transforms over the next coming weeks.
When people look at me, I don’t wish for them to think “pretty face,” but instead, see God’s light shine through me as a daughter and servant of God.
And while my choices and path are far from perfect, the idea of coming back to prayer and to this devotional day in and day out, gives me a chance to once again “surrender it all” to God and humbly ask Him to fill me up with His spirit so I may better live my life in His truth, in hopes to bring others closer to Him as well.
What are your thoughts on this? Do you have a devotional that you currently love?
Your sister in Christ,
Elise
