My current morning routine with God

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness ~ Lamentations 3:22-23

Over the years, I’ve done my best to drink a green juice first thing in the morning, before ingesting any other kind of drink or food. I did this because I wanted the first thing my body to have each day were nutrients. I figured having a coffee would be ok, as long as it was after my stomach was fed something that actually nourished it. It’s like I was easing into the day by prepping my body with vitamins. And if I didn’t have time to make green juice, I’d drink a glass of water.

My mornings with God have kind of been the same way. Recently, I’ve been doing my best to spend the first parts of my mornings with God. This has looked like writing my devotionals (I have a guided journal), and reading parts of the Bible. While it has been my goal to read the whole bible in one year, I admit I’ve missed several days, but I stay on track the best I can. The most important thing has been staying in communication with Him, through daily prayer.

Time with God is like yummy, nourishing green juice for the soul. And I’m not talking about gross tasting celery juice. I’m talking about the green juice that has one or two fruits in it as well, making it taste oh so delicious.

I’ve found that starting my days with Him, versus social media, for example, has prepped my soul and mind for whatever the day has in store for me—for whatever He has in store for me. I’ve found on days that I skimp out on this and serve myself instead, I simply don’t feel the same level of peace.

For some people, this might look like meditation. If that’s your thing, go for it. However I’ve found that time with God has given me peace that has been everlasting throughout the day, no matter what.

There’s many ways to incorporate God into your mornings. Apart from guided journals, I’ve also tried out daily planners as well. There’s a brand called “Prayerful Planner,” that is also great.

If your intentions are pure, you will have a good experience.

How do your mornings look like? Do you make time for God? Let me know in the comments!
